Meet Your Designer

Hi!  I’m Becky Newton, owner and designer of Modern Virtual Designs, but I didn't get here overnight.  I spent 2 decades working one on one with clients while in sales for flooring, building materials, and cabinetry.  I'd consider myself a cabinet nerd because I can sometimes speak the carpentry talk that puts the average person to sleep - so I do my best to simplify the language.  Read on to learn more about how I got here.

How it Started

My career in residential design began years before Modern Virtual Designs. Through experience networking, generating my own leads, and working directly with clients in highly customized projects, I’ve developed a unique combination of design and technical expertise.

How it's Going

Becoming a mom changed how I viewed my career—and made me a better designer in ways I never expected. It taught me to listen more closely, anticipate my clients’ needs, and think beyond how a space looks to how it truly functions in everyday life. Motherhood has made me more empathetic, adaptable, and thoughtful in every design I create.

Modern Virtual Designs

At RP Lumber, I revitalized the kitchen bath department's reputation, which had deteriorated before the business acquisition.  With the help of awesome management, I helped correct incomplete and erroneous jobs, updated samples, and established new partnerships, leading to nearly $150,000 in sales for 2023. Additionally, I represented the company at the local farmers market and network events with the Oconomowoc Chamber of Commerce.

I worked with a variety of clients in the lake country area at Groskopf Construction. Specializing in kitchen and bath design, I kept up with trends and helped managed the showroom. My key achievement was creating a way for project managers to view selections in real-time.

Floor 360. I worked one on one with a variety of clients whether in the showroom floor or visiting on-site.  I would help with selection of the most recommended flooring material as the project required.  Materials I became familiar with include carpet, LVP, LVT, tile, laminate, and hardwoods.

21st Century Tile. I worked as a showroom consultant, helping clients select the right tile for their project including natural stones, porcelain, ceramic, terra cotta, and mosaics.

Steinhafel's. I worked as a sales rep at a variety of locations for Steinhafel's.  This became my introduction to a career in sales.
